When you’re trying to find material for B-roll, you find yourself digging through a lot of stuff. Naturally, some of the things you find are truly a surprise because you often can’t remember all the things you’ve done over a fifty year career. Why was this photograph taken, you might ask? I honestly don’t remember. By the way, the B-roll material I spoke about is for a documentary that is currently being produced. However, we’ll talk more about that at a later date.

Anyway, I did come across this really cool photograph of some very important people in the world of animation. Perhaps I should add, the world of Walt Disney animation in particular. The individuals in the photograph have contributed to a good many motion pictures as well as theme park attractions for the Disney Company. No, this is not a PhotoShop composite, but I look as though I simply wandered into this group of amazing individuals and had my picture taken with them.

Seriously, it’s an honor to be included in such a group. Alice Davis and Kathy Beaumont arrived at the Walt Disney Studios years before I got there. On the other hand, Brad, Andreas, Ron and the two Johns came along some years later. And, of course we always had Charles Solomon to write about what was going on in the world of animation. As a matter of fact, I think Charles is still writing about it even today. Of course, the world of animation is ever changing and I can’t help but regret that John and Andreas no longer animate for the mouse. On the plus side, it’s nice to know that Ron and John are moving ahead on their next animated feature film due out next year. And, if we’re really lucky, we might even see Brad return to the world of animation as well. That would be incredible, wouldn’t it?

Anyway, that big golden guy in the photograph makes me think this must have been some kind of Motion Picture Academy event. In any case it’s a pretty cool picture and I’m delighted to be included in the photograph with so many amazing people I truly admire.

Okay, who's that big Golden guy in the photograph?
